Hopdoddy Burger Bar
August 2017 - March 2019
Hopdoddy is a mid-sized national burger chain based in Austin, Texas.
With music being a huge aspect of Hopdoddy’s brand, I made “concert” posters for some of our burgers.
Hopdoddy prides themselves on their unique burgers and wide variety of proteins. Previously, they had a different, very specific font for the name of each burger on the menu. It was important to them to continue that in their new menu design. To streamline it and help keep them on brand, I used different weights and styles of the fonts in the brand to customize each burger.
With beer being their other main focus, the back of the menu needed to highlight the beer selection. Each location has it’s own beer list centered around local beers to them. By breaking down the information about each beer into a grid-style, it helps emphasize the local nature and appeal to beer-y people.
For a while, Hopdoddy had a monthly burger special that used beer to create an ingredient in the burger. While there was a specific style associated with each special, the restaurant selected the specific beer based on their individual beer list.
With music being important to the Hopdoddy brand, I turned these specials into concert-style posters. Knowing each poster would be designed to fit the special, there were elements to the design that stayed the same throughout; “Hopdoddy Presents” at the top, the Brewseries mark at the bottom, a circle denoting what style of beer was used, and space at the very bottom for each restaurant to write in the name of the beer used at that location.
